Girl's Weekend in Vail

24 March 2010

I have the greatest girlfriends here in Colorado, they're way more adventurous and exciting than me. We took a girl's only weekend trip to Vail, CO and had an intense day of snowboarding. We stayed at the Vail Plaza because Jake and I had an used credit and the room was amazing!! The girls wanted to get to the mountain when the lifts opened and we literally did not stop boarding until the lifts closed. It was such a fun day and holy cow I'm sore. In the meantime Jake had his first daddy-dash weekend without me and they did some serious shopping.
Me and my friend Shauna, I graduated High School with her husband Doug Brown.
Emily, Megan, Shauna & Me.

Relaxing after a full day of boarding.

This is the hotel we stayed at.
Look at all those slopes! This was the view of Vail from our balcony.

And in the meantime, Jake took Dash shopping for the first time ever... and came home with the cutest shoes and hat. Dash is always wearing Jake's hat so now he has very own. Oh it's so cute on him. He wears it everywhere.

If you have toddlers - you MUST find shoes with the faux laces/velcro strip. Nike makes them & a lot of skate brands. They look like they're laced up but really they have a velcro strip you just pull up and down. Soo cute and convenient.

Daddy's Boy

22 February 2010

Dash loves his Daddy. No matter how much I try to convince him that he's a mommy's boy, he has this undeniable connection with Jake...

Fun With Jen & Kaylee

19 February 2010

My big sister Jen and her youngest daughter Kaylee came to visit to celebrate all 3 of our February birthdays. It was sooo much fun to spend time with them and to see Dash fall in love with Kaylee. Kaylee is an archeology and dinosaur GENIUS so we spent a lot of time at museums. They're so wonderful, I wish I could see them all the time.

On our way to find good sledding hills...
We didn't look far, the golf course behind our neighborhood was the perfect spot!

Help for a family friend

09 January 2010

A family friend of ours, Garth Abbott, needs life saving cancer treatments and is uninsured. He has a super aggressive form of breast cancer and doesn't have much time to raise the $105,000 needed for his treatments. His family is doing an online auction for him so if you have services to donate or would like to bid - go here!

Denver Zoo

03 January 2010

Jake has been traveling to Utah almost every week so my mom, Dash, & I checked out the Denver Zoo. Of all the animals, Dash was most excited about the geese that flew down to drink from the polar bear pond : )

Christmas in our new house!

26 December 2009

It was our first Christmas in our new house and it was fantastic! Jake was in charge of Christmas lunch and all I can say is YUM! It was super nice to have my mom living with us and join us as well. We all opened gifts and just enjoyed each others company and the spirit of Christmas. We really do have SO much to be grateful for this year, especially our faith and family.
I think Jake and Dash woke up at 6am ready to open gifts but I wouldn't get out of bed until 7:30.
These two are true bffs.
This is just ridiculous.
Dash's favorite gift, he's a natural.
All worn out and on his favorite sleeping spot - a big stuffed sheep from Grandpa Lewis.

A Slim Fast for Amy

14 December 2009

My good friend and former college roomie Amy came for a visit last week. The first thing Dash did when she got here was go to the cupboard and hand her a slim fast - haha. We didn't teach him that, he came up with that one on his own. Good thing she's the last person to need a diet!

Thanksgiving kisses

26 November 2009

Dash met his Uncle Jared, his Uncle Joe, his Aunt Jen and his cousin Emory on his Daddy's side for the first time at Thanksgiving. He just fell in love with Emory - luckily we caught it on video : )

Halloween Wild Thing

26 October 2009

So, I attempted to sew something and I thought it would be easy but a Halloween costume is probably not the best time to learn how to use a pattern! It kind of took me forever but, with tons of encouragement from Jake, it turned out great - thanks to our handsome son : ) Our inspiration was the book Where the Wild Things Are. He wanted to carry his "I see a monster" book with him all night.
